Mr. Hansen's family started working in the insurance industry, in 1970. Three years later Douglas started his career in law enforcement, where he worked as a police officer, sergeant, detective, Deputy, and Chief of Police for the next 23 years. Mr. Hansen has since retired from law enforcement, while his two family members are now corporate regional administrators for two of the nation's largest insurance carriers. Both family members are also planning on retiring within the next year, and have made arrangements to work with GGIS on a "full-time" basis.

Mr. Hansen conducted his first "surveillance" in 1974 as a bonded New York City Police Officer through MACY'S Department Store. Hansen was in a "Robbery Suppression Team" and his first assignment was to hide in designated parked cars and watch for "Armed Robbers" who were robbing Christmas shoppers at gun point while they were walking to their cars. Since 1974, Hansen has graduated three major law enforcement academies, and countless training events put on by local, State and Federal Law Enforcement Depts. Hansen has been told by San Francisco prosecutors that he was the highest formally trained cop in SFPD, with over 900 hours of formal training, most of it from the United States Drug Enforcement Agency and the Federal Bureau Of Investigation.

Since 1991, we have successfully investigated THOUSANDS of industrial and non-industrial Insurance cases. A typical case starts with our own preliminary investigation. We obtain prior W/C records if needed, and we go over the information furnished, to determine what, if anything, we need to add. Our field work consists of an activity check to determine the proper method of surveillance. Once this preliminary investigation is completed, we proceed with the actual investigation. We adhere to state law and have strict guidelines regarding personal privacy. We adhere to the NAIC's Model Act regarding personal privacy and surveillance investigations. By utilizing both investigation and surveillance, FCI is able to provide a superior work product that is concise and accurate. This allows the Client to determine the validity of the claim, to accept it, or possibly deny the claim all together. If the claim is accepted, a major benefit of our investigation is to keep the injury exaggeration to a minimum.

We utilize state-of-the-art surveillance systems for acquiring both indoor and outdoor video, and our film success rate is over 98 percent. We also utilize a satellite communications network that enables investigators to be in constant contact with adjusters via radiophone and/or the Internet.
